The CEO of Soul, Zhang Lu placed emphasis on the use of artificial intelligence to enhance platform features from the get-go. So, it came as no surprise that Soul was a part of the World Artificial Intelligence Conference held on July 4th, 2024. The theme of this year’s event was “Governing AI for Good and for All”, and the focus was on core AI technology, building intelligent terminals with AI and AI-powered applications.
Human Touch, Digital Heart” was the social platform’s theme for the conference and the central idea of Soul’s exhibits was to combine Artificial Intelligence Generated Content (AIGC) with digital socialization. The team of Soul Zhang Lu introduced three brand new AI-powered features at the event – “Digital Twin”, “Werewolf Awakening”, and “EchoVerse”.
As the name indicates, “Digital Twin” is a feature that encourages users to flex their creative muscle and come up with a digital persona that embodies their personality traits, likes, hobbies, inclinations, and more.
Users can authorize the platform to set the characteristics of the digital twin based on their own chat records and posting content in Soul’s public domain scenes.The digital twin can achieve the effect of replicating a real person to the greatest extent.
“Digital Twin” now has the ability to offer intelligent reply recommendations and even conversation starters, so it helps users to both start and continue socializing on the platform.
The second feature introduced by Soul Zhang Lu’s team was the AI-driven version of the very popular gaming feature of the platform – Werewolf Awakening. The updated gaming scenario now comes complete with AI players. So, users can choose to compete against or with teams that combine both human and AI players or fight it out just with AI entities. And these AI players are more than capable of putting up a fair fight.
Equipped with autonomous speech and reasoning, the gamebots of Werewolf Awakening can strategize, communicate with their teammates, and even be deceptive and display human-like cunningness when the gameplay demands it. Simply put, these gamebots are just as good if not better than the best players out there.
So, playing alongside and against the AI bots of Werewolf Awakening is at once challenging, entertaining, and fun. This elevates the players’ experience to a whole new level of realism and immersiveness. What’s more, these game bots also do a fine job of helping out new players by explaining the rules and game features in an intuitive way and assisting the players in building their gaming skill sets.
While the AI-powered version of Werewolf Awakening as well as “Digital Twin” had event-goers quite excited, the third feature unveiled by the team of Soul Zhang Lu proved to be the most impressive of all. Known as Echoverse, this feature was introduced as an independent application that will form the cornerstone of an AI social platform. With this feature, users get the liberty to create their own chat buddies.
Users get to pick the persona, look as well as the communication style of the AI-character they want to chat with. For the image, the user can either upload pictures or use a text description and the AI algorithm will use these cues to generate visual traits of the character. For audio, the user gets to pick from a variety of program-generated voice tones that can be blended or used as-is to create a unique voice profile for the character.
As far as communication style goes, the algorithm relies on inputs about the character’s persona offered by the user. Once the AI-characters profile is generated by AI, it is ready for real-time chats. Because these AI-powered characters learn as they chat with the user, the conversations get more interesting as the user continues to communicate with them.
Moreover, these virtual humans are programmed to offer coherent and intelligent responses, which allows them to hold engaging interactions with the user. In fact, the way in which these characters respond is so intuitive and emotionally intelligent that it’s easy for users to forget that they are communicating with a chatbot and not an actual human being.
All three of these AI-powered features boast superlative performance and this is attributed to Soul Zhang Lu’s significant investment of time and resources in AIGC technology and its applications. Currently, the platform relies completely on its homegrown large language models to power its AIGC + social features.
